From Reuters : British pop star Elton John tied the knot with long-term partner David Furnish on Wednesday, joining hundreds of gay couples across England taking advantage of a new law to formalize their relationships. The normally flamboyant pair surprised some pundits by wearing traditional black morning ...

The 'V' Word For Men From vasectomy.com : Having an operation involving the testicles is every man's fear. To a greater or lesser degree, just about every man would rather not have anything to do with a procedure on or near his genital region. Simply recognizing that this fear exists is a first step. Hello my friends (both JU and real life friends), Thus begins my one hundredth article here on JoeUser. I can honestly say that I have loved getting to this point. You people have stimulated me and challenged me. You have made me examine my own beliefs and views regarding almost everything. Which has been fun, educational, and frustrating at times. 100 articles? This also begins my self-examination period. Ninety nine articles, and it's mostly... well, mostly junk. Wouldn't feed ...

Bush addressed the nation tonight, and I think he was especially candid with the people of America. It's especially refreshing to hear what he had to say regarding the War on Terror and the insurgency in Iraq. IMHO he was honest and forthright. From the Washington Post : The address came on the heels of four major speeches in which Bush acknowledged setbacks and surprises in the war and took responsibility for ordering the invasion on the basis of inaccurate intelligence. The admissio...

With rising public frustration with the war and rising approval ratings for GWB, the Democratic National Committee issued a memo last week telling them how to react and respond to Republican threats... From the Washington Post: ...a strategy memo to DLC supporters last week warning party leaders not to use Bush's problems as an invitation to call for an immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, or generally to steer a more liberal course that could alienate the middle-of-the-road voters th...

From AP: President Bush reversed course on Thursday and accepted Sen. John McCain's call for a law banning cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of foreign suspects in the war on terror. Bush said the agreement will "make it clear to the world that this government does not torture and that we adhere to the international convention of torture, whether it be here at home or abroad." "It's a done deal," said McCain, talking to reporters in a driving rain outside the White House after he...

NIST researchers have demonstrated a minuscule atomic clock with inner workings about the size of a grain of rice and potential applications in atomically precise timekeeping in portable, battery-powered devices for secure wireless communications, more precise navigation, and other applications. The "physics package" of the clock, believed to be the smallest in the world, is about 1.5 millimeters on a side and about 4 millimeters tall, consumes less than 75 thousandths of a watt, and has a...

This is kind of a re-rant, but with new, updated information. Especially since the 'Save Tookie' movement brought out all the usual suspects in regards to the celebrity activists. Think of it as a revised edition! I cannot stand these celebrities who think that their opinions on social issues matter. Mike Farrell goes on NPR and a speaking tour to tell how Tookie needs to live. Sharon Stone tries to sell her earrings on "Ellen" to save cancer patients. Michael Moore... well, he's jus...

I'm currently working on certification to teach my fellow Agency employees some of the fundamentals of our tradecraft. In fact, I am taking the certification course this week. It's an in-house Teaching Fundamentals course that mirrors a graduate-level teaching course, as taught by any university and it's even accredited by the American Council on Education. This is heavy stuff. I am learning about teaching techniques, presentation skills, how to use visual aids, games, and activit...

I feel for my brothers back in Texas. Especially SPC Nobody Special and other non-JUsers, who got out of the Army at roughly the same time that I did and have found little to no success in post-Army life. In fact, X-SPC is still looking for work beyond shade-tree mechanic and pizza delivery... oh wait, the pizza is his wife, LadyCleve . He recently has been posting that he's going back to the Army . Poor sod. Meanwhile, I'm doing well. I've got a great job with the US Departme...

Well, I have been a member of a gym here at the Fort for two months or so now. I joined a gym in order to keep my weight down. I knew that without mandatory exercise daily that it would be tough to keep my weight at a manageable level. My job doesn't let me get up and move all that often. I am kinda chair-bound. I am running and doing the elliptical trainer for thirty minutes at a stretch, at least three times a week. I am also following the weight training regimen in Muscle & Fitness...
