These are my random musings. Hopefully they will be witty, insightful, and frequently updated.
Bush addressed the nation tonight, and I think he was especially candid with the people of America. It's especially refreshing to hear what he had to say regarding the War on Terror and the insurgency in Iraq. IMHO he was honest and forthright.

From the Washington Post:
The address came on the heels of four major speeches in which Bush acknowledged setbacks and surprises in the war and took responsibility for ordering the invasion on the basis of inaccurate intelligence. The admissions were part of a White House effort to address complaints that Bush lacked a solid strategy for the war and has been oblivious to the violence that Americans plainly see on television.
"I know that some of my decisions have led to terrible loss and not one of those decisions has been taken lightly," he said. "I know that this war is controversial, yet being your president requires doing what I believe is right and accepting the consequences."

But, he continued, the war rages on. The Iraqi people are free. Freer than they ever were under Saddam Hussein, freer than they ever were since before British colonialism. Their first parliamentary elections happened! All this was from the ousting of Saddam. In case you hadn't noticed, he is standing trial for his crimes against humanity.

My favorite quote, going out for all the Murthas and Pelosis in the world, was this:
Arguing against withdrawal, Bush said that "to retreat before victory would be an act of recklessness and dishonor and I will not allow."

Hell no, we won't go.

Prs. Bush hasn't been oblivious to the horrors going on in Iraq, but the press, the far left, and those whose political futures rest on failure in Iraq have been oblivious to any successes in Iraq.

What a slap in the face they are to the Iraqi people, freedom and everyone who has fought and/or died for the successes those anti freedom losers ignore.

I think people are overlooking Afghanistan's successes. The political process has blossomed (like a poppy?) and women especially are actively involved in the political process.
Great picture and story in this week's Time magazine regarding a woman who sold all her jewelry to run for political office in Afghanistan. (The photo is only available in Flash media. I can't copy the picture to the webpage... but it's photo 22 of 24 in the series.)
No burqa for her! Thanks, GWB!

They claim we have done the job and true victory is now up to the Iraq. You misrepresent what troop withdrawal means, nor is it necessarily a publicly announced timetable--strategic withdrawal doesn't work that way--it is rather deployment to the borders to protect the terrains from foreign infiltration.

No argument, though again the opertion left much to be desired; such as its return to the poppy trade.

The media exists to make money and good news doesn't sell. Nevertheless, if there are Ernie Pyles out there they are still confined to the green zone and can't get to the good news zones.

You wouldn't have the successes in Afghanistan, if it weren't for the Iraqi invasion.
Strategic Planning?......

I love the way your turned that "poppy child' slogan around.  That was very witty!
