I heard on the radio that my favorite band in the whole wide world, Barenaked Ladies ( Link ), is coming to Baltimore. And I will be available. So I got excited. But then I found out the price of the tickets... the cheapest seats I found online were $89 each! The most expensive seats were over $200 each! Okay, is it just me being a skinflint, or is it just a sign of the times? For me and my lovely wife to attend this concert, we'd have to shell out around $200-$400 for the pleasure. I ...

Well, June has come. Sometime this month, my wife will give birth to baby #4, a boy, and we're excited. We are quite fond of our other three, and we're very happy that number 4 is coming along. People are so funny... they expect that after 11 1/2 years of marriage, that we'd have 1 or 2 kids. Nope, we will soon have four. My point in putting this up on my site is to let you know that four is not weird, four is healthy but intimidating. Not everyone can have four kids, just as not ever...

Went to the Texas State Capitol in Austin last weekend, and the adjacent Texas History Museum. Wow, what a propaganda trip. First of all, these people are just cuh-razy about their glorious state. Texas, Texas, Texas. Let's discuss what makes Texas so great. Now, in the next room, let's look at pictures of what makes Texas so historical. Next, here's a picture gallery of great Texans... (Much like the "Scottish Wall of Fame" from So I Married an Axe Murderer. ) On your way out, don't...

So Barry Bonds has finally come out and talked to the media, this time not under oath. He felt free to lash out at the media for dogging him and speculating that he didn't actually earn the home runs, the MVP, the other many awards and accolades that have been lavished upon his long career. Link Unfortunately, he doesn't deserve any of them. Yes, they were his arms that swung the bat. The arms pumped up by chemicals, hormones, and various foreign and human-made substances that were injec...

By my estimation, I am 25 pounds overweight. (If we're looking at the Army figures, I am actually about 40 pounds over their expectation for my height, age, etc.) By that reckoning, I need to burn 90,000 calories more than I take in to get myself back into shape. No pressure... 45 minutes on the stair climber becomes almost exactly 1000 calories. (It was actually 999 today. I am such a slacker.) I have tried to do other things in my spare time, but there is no other exercise machine th...

Wow, I spent last night online creating my blog. And I spent the rest of the night tossing and turning. I spent the morning on the Stairclimber with my mind racing. I find myself combing news sources, life happenings, etc., for material on which I could put something, anything in my new blog. How do you guys handle the stress?!?!

My wife and I are trying to persevere through our fourth pregnancy. We are gluttons for punishment, I guess. My children are Benjamin, 8; Dylan, 6; and Emilie, 3. We are very happy together, and my wife and I are going to go for number four. It's a boy, we discovered last week, and his name will probably be Zachary. We decided pretty early on that we didn't want to name him after anyone in our ancestry, though my three other children are named after family. Ben was my grandfather's nick...

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I suppose I am a card-carrying member, as I do actually have a card. I was neither raised in the Church nor in Utah. My exposure to the church was in college, abot six hours after I arrived at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, AZ. Link I fell in with a group of people who were LDS (the common and preferable contraction for the name of our church), and I started receiving regular visits from missionaries. We talked a ...

I am a Republican, though I take great pride in knowing that while I have a desire to see the Republican agenda move forward, I do not just vote mindlessly, based on parenting or any other external influence. I try to be as open-minded as possible when it comes to politics, and try to "vote my conscience" as best I can. It just so happens that my conscience leads me to vote for the Republicans. It definitely wasn't parenting. I was raised by a crazed anti-establishment father and a mother...

Hello all. Thank you for taking the time to peruse my life. I am in the Army, a Sergeant in an MI unit. (Same unit as greywar, pseudosoldier, SSG Geezer, etc.) I have my wife and kids here at home with me, and I am trying to juggle all the many responsibilities of being a father, husband, soldier, cub scout leader, grad student, church leader, etc. I have been so lucky, having dodged the bullet twice when it has been time to go off to war. (Three if you count not being sent to Korea rig...
