Why 'turn the page' when we're not done reading the page yet?

So Barry Bonds has finally come out and talked to the media, this time not under oath.
He felt free to lash out at the media for dogging him and speculating that he didn't actually earn the home runs, the MVP, the other many awards and accolades that have been lavished upon his long career.Link
Unfortunately, he doesn't deserve any of them.
Yes, they were his arms that swung the bat. The arms pumped up by chemicals, hormones, and various foreign and human-made substances that were injected/ingested into his body over that long and storied career. The arms that were much, much smaller ten or fifteen years ago, when most unenhanced athletes are reaching their peak.
His plea is that he thought it was flaxseed oil that he was... injecting... directly into his stomach muscles...? .Link I have never taken flaxseed oil, but I guarantee that's not the way it says on the label for ensuring "maximum efficacy." I do know that flaxseed oil is for keeping the skin toned and flexible during massive lifting and pumping, which can cause stretch marks.
But I don't for one minute believe that he didn't know exactly what was going into that machine body of his. Certainly not what was in that big ol' needle as he 'roided himself up for the big gains. That's like pulling into the filling station and accidentally pumping the fuel tank full of motor oil. Not plausible for a seasoned gas pumper like me, because I have been putting gas into my car for years.
He wishes that the media and America would just "turn the page" and get over it. You see, he has rationalized his behavior so much that he wonders why we can't rationalize it away, too. Half of my outrage is that he doesn't see why this is a problem. Well, as a baseball fan, I am entitled to an explanation for his behavior, which, while not actually illegal or against MLB rules, was unethical and gave him an unnatural advantage. And not that it was flaxseed oil.
And I absolutely will not "turn the page" and move on.

I hear Bonds' press conference this morning, and I wrote a blog entry about it this afternoon.

I can't believe the nerve of that guy!  He should retire now before he taints the MLB record book.

Hmmm I thought flaxseed cause massive increases in muscle growth and male aggression?

What these folks are trusting in the average American baseball fan to forget is that there's often 20 feet or fewer between a long pop fly and a homerun. Unfortunately, too many highlight films of Rob Deer exist for that to happen. Steroids don't help the hand-eye coordination, but for that matter, neither does a corked bat. Both DO add a coupla crucial feet to a drive.

I don't get what you wrote about Rob Deer, but your point is well-taken Greywar.

Speaking of Rob Deer, I saw him hit an amazing line drive homerun to left field at the Metrodome. I'd bet that the ball never rose above 20 feet in the air before it left the park.

I had a great view of that one bbecause I was just to the first base side of home plate. That was probably the most memorable homerun I have ever seen.

My take (well the Champion's) on the whole affair is here.

On one hand, you have Barry claiming that all he KNOWINGLY took is flaxseed oil and arthritis rub.
On the other hand, you have Barry saying that the media should mind its own business and get out of his life.
If he is the proud "champion", Greywar, who has beaten his past and the odds to become the home run machine that stands before the plate today, then he should fess up and put the onus on the reporters to get over it.
Look at the Pete Rose gambling scandal: we haven't "gotten over it" because we haven't gotten the straight story.

Thanks for responding to my article on Barry Bonds.  I was expecting a bit more reaction from that one, but that's the way it goes sometime.

Bonds is a rat-ass cheater.

Pete Rose is a dirty bastard too, but if it isn't proven that he hadn't cheated as a player: maybe he should be in the hall of fame on the merits of his playing career.  Of course he may have cheated as a manager, so maybe he should be out alltogether

Anyway, we can all agree on one thing: Yankees suck.

I agree with you that lying about what he did is wrong dave but I think the whole "scandal" is retarded. If we wanted to keep the game "pure" and make sure everyone is on the same footing as the od greats then the players should be forced to use the equipments and methods in place when Doubleday invented the game or maybe just draw the line back when the pro game took off.

I like what you do, continue this way.
