Okay, check out this link and tell me what you think! Check this out... Is this the "Hotel of Hugs" or the "Overlook"?
Watch this, let me get your feedback. Link Is it a hotel full of hugs?
Well, I have got to say, as a card-carrying Republican and a quite conservative person, I have a guilty pleasure. I think that The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. Consistently the headlines knock me right over with their ability to skewer the day's events. Jon Stewart's delivery is flawless and cunning. The interviews are annoying in their over-the-top-ness, but occasionally they'll find some unsuspecting dupe who will either blithely fe...
Bought the Special Edition DVD of Holy Grail on Friday after work, used at EB Games. So, Friday night we let the kids stay up late (ooh, 9:30) and watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Link Man, did they love it. Ben is still singing the Camelot song. Link Then we found the Lego version of the same song, as a special feature on the DVD. Link Stills from the production and other scenes are located here: Link Very cool indeed.
Got to reminiscing about the great teen films of the '80s... Here are my top 5: Breakfast Club -- saw this movie about 150 times. Red Dawn -- kicks Red Army butt. Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- have it at home, still working on the magic number 150. Some Kind of Wonderful -- Lea Thompson at her most beautiful. Oh yeah, good film. Princess Bride -- I am introducing my kids to this fantastic movie. And loving it. "Is this a kissing book?" Real Genius -- the zan...
A friend of mine reports for the Onion's AV Club. A fellow reporter of his wrote an interesting article. Apparently last Thursday, the IMDB listing for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince gave directing credits to Terry Gilliam . Gilliam, who is mostly known for breathatking visuals and stunningly over-the-top goofiness (anyone remember "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" or the doomed Don Quixote picture?), would be a welcome change from the directing of the Harry Potter f...
Well, JU isn't up yet but I have some stuff to say... It's the start of a fresh new movie week and already controversy. There's this apparent uproar over "Curious George". And of course it's coming from the animal rights lunatics and other assorted libs. And then there's the complaint that the Man in the Yellow Hat represents imperialism. Link For the politically correct Bay Area parent, the "Curious George" children's books are a minefield of cultural horrors through which to t...
This is supposed to be THE BIG MOVIE OF THE YEAR. I have heard radio announcements and TV spots billing this as the next great American film, in the mold of The Godfather or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Clearly, the iconic image of the American cowboy is under fire in this movie about a couple of cowboys who come to terms with their latent homosexuality while out on the open range. In the words of Henry Oturno , this piece of American history is "purposely being torn asunder in t...
Recently dharmagrl posted a great email conversation with Vincent Gallo. She offered him some advice on "The Brown Bunny", his latest film, and he offered her a proposition for her to show him her boobies. Classy guy. Real piece of work. "Would you show this man your ta-ta's?" So anyway, I happened upon this site this morning and thought y'all would get a kick out of what else Vincent Gallo is offering on the public. In addition to books he's read and motorcycles he's driven, t...
"...My bags are packed, I'm ready to go..." My tickets are bought online for Arundel Mills Muvico 24. My mother, bless her, took the day off from work to come down and see it with us. (We didn't ask her, but whoo hoo!) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the most action-packed yet of all the books (in sequence... SIX isn't a film yet...) and promises to be extraordinary. I am very excited. My buddy Christopher Bahn wrote a wonderful interactive article for MSNBC. The...
Apparently Sylvester Stallone hasn't rid himself of every shred of decency. Earlier this week, it was announced that Stallone was going to start in Rocky VI . Well, today, it was announced that he would star in Rambo IV . When will the madness end? Hasn't Stallone paid for all his fine livin' and bling?
Ricky Gervais from "The Office" had a synth-pop group in the early '80s called "Seona Dancing" (pronounced "shaw-nah"). Here is the photo: Seona Dancing.com Yikes, double yikes.
Lynn Spears, mother to Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears, is writing a new book about how to do some good ol', downhome Christian parenting. That book has been shelved by her publisher -- the release date has been pushed back indefinitely due to the unexpected pregnancy of her younger star daughter, Jamie Lynn. Turns out the 16-year-old star of Zoey 101 announced to OK! Magazine that she is pregnant by her long-time co-star boyfriend Casey Aldridge, who was 18 at the time. From ...
I know I'm taking on two different topics in the same article, but there is a connection, I promise you. I love movies. Now that I'm done with grad school, I look forward to seeing more films in the theaters. So I am on the lookout for good films to enjoy. Saw two trailers at Apple's Movie Trailer site and boy was I surprised with the comedies I saw... the funniest thing about them is that they are both pure melodrama. And they are not being played for laughs. First, the film R...
