The effects of Tuesday's elections
Published on November 5, 2008 By singrdave In Marriage

Arizona and Florida have effectively banned same-sex marriage.  California's decision is still forthcoming, but as on 9:00 AM EST on Wednesday morning, the votes echo those cast in AZ and FL.

And now for the effects: I got a very serious email this morning from my lesbian friend, mourning the dissolution of her marriage.

Well Dave you helped do it. You as a straight man helped get people to decided that I can never get married to a woman in which I love. I hope all are proud of controlling other people's lives. You would let me sin in other areas, if this is so morally wrong, like other sins, why not stay out of it. In AZ the law passed that only one man and one woman may get married, this law is supposed to never be up for a revote. Love you as a friend. It is now legal for abortion but not love. Ain't America Grand.

Here are my questions: are heterosexuals happy with themselves?

And what does my friend do, now that she is no longer married?

did you personally campaign against same sex marriage? otherwise this friend is showing remarkable bigotry in just lumping you with those who do because you are straight.

Anyways, civil unions for EVERYONE. The government should not recognize marriage, straight or gay; as marriage is a religious institute.

the liberal fallacy is that the old is always wrong. People can be right for the wrong reasons... Obeying "tradition" is the wrong reason. But tradion is something that was thought up by the wisest men of old and stood the test of time, and thus is most often the correct course of action though.
