Claims he was tortured in his air-conditioned cell
Published on December 21, 2005 By singrdave In Current Events
Pulling a page from the Gitmo playbook, former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein claimed in an outburst at his Baghdad trial for torture and murder Wednesday that he had been beaten by U.S. soldiers. He claimed that his detainers were beating him on every inch of his body, so much so that the marks were still visible today in court. Not that he actually showed anyone those marks, but the allegations were there.
Nobody believes him, but the freak show... I mean trial will be on hiatus for two weeks while these allegations are investigated and his living conditions are reviewed.

From the Post-Chronicle:
Christopher Reid of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad rejected the allegation, telling CNN it was "absolutely bogus."
Prosecutors also ridiculed his claim of torture, saying the former Iraqi leader was being held in an air-conditioned room when some in Baghdad had no electric power.

The high-profile nature of this trial will make it impossible for any kind of maltreatment to occur. Think about all the international scrutiny, not just from lawyers but from human rights activists and Saddam fans... there is no time, 24 hours a day, when abuse or torture could have possibly occurred without any witnesses.

Next he'll claim they flushed his Koran down the toilet.

*sarcasm on*Awww, diddums.  Did dem nasty soldiers make poor widdle Saddam take a shower and check him over for lice?  Aww, the poor widdle thing.*sarcasm off*

After the amount of people he's tortured, killed, had killed, mained, gassed, electrocuted, beaten, hanged, stoned, disembowled and otherwise been despicable to......he should cound himself lucky that we're giving him the opportunity to stand trial, and that he's still alive.

What an ass.

ok. i wonder if it's just me, but why when Bush speaks he always connects 9/11 with Iraq and Saddam. while i do believe it was a good thing to take Saddam out of power, and he should really be dead now, but i thought Iraq really had nothing to do with 9/11...

I have it on the best authority that he was abused!  He was forced to listen to Olivia Newton John, and Elton john music!

Hey, I like Elton John, and Olivia, well, I don't mind, as long as it's from the Grease movie.

Now, put some reggeaton and you will drive me up the wall. Can't stand the damn music. I'd rather face Saddams firing squad.

Trust me, if you watch any news whatsoever, you'll know it's not just you...
But this article is about Saddam's claims of torture and abuse at the hands of his Iraqi jailers. Nothing personal, you are welcome back here any time!
