Gotta admit, sometimes I get misty-eyed...
Published on November 26, 2005 By singrdave In Misc
Watching the Aggies duke it out with the Longhorns yesterday made me a little homesick. For TEXAS.

For Texas, of all places. I can't get through three months away from the place without getting all misty whenever I think about TEXAS.

I like Austin very much. Hills, cool people, cultural scene, outdoors, lakes, rivers, bike paths... yeah.
I like San Antonio very much too. Amusement parks, culture, Hispanic theme (as if it were its own section of Disney America!), stuff to do. Great also.
I even like Dallas/Fort Worth, though I could live there every day for the rest of my life and NEVER become a Cowboys fan.
I hated Killeen, it's the catbox of Texas. It actually is: the caliche clay of Bell/Coryell counties reminds me of peed-in cat litter. I would have loved my four years in Texas if I hadn't had to live in Killeen. Even Waco has more going for it than the Killeen/Cove/Belton metro area.

Texas is a great place to raise kids, good schools, fun things to do. Wide open spaces and lots of outdoor activities everywhere.
I would not cry or moan or complain if work takes me back to Texas.

Right on.

I miss Texas, too.

I'm from the panhandle, and while there are things about small town life I do not miss, I do miss the crazy weather and my family and being able to drive and drive and drive.

I love San Antonio, and I'd like to live there again some day. That part of Texas is so green and beautiful. The local culture is amazing, and there is so much to do.

And people are different in Texas. In Texas, when you pass someone you've never seen before in your life on the highway, they wave at you like you're old friends. Heck, that person you don't even know will give you the courtesy of a hand signal letting you know there's a police officer up ahead.

*sigh*

I'm totally with ya on this.

Amen. I miss TX soooo much. Especially San Antonio. I've never lived there but have family who have lived there and have many, many friends who live there now. I would move there in a heartbeat!

My heart rests in Tejas.

Yep, I've been living in Killeen two and a half years now, and I've gotta admit, I miss texas.

Ah geez, Edith!  Another one of them!

Yeah, smarty pants. I was happiest when I was away from Killeen.

Lefors, way up in the corner. Muhahahaha I know all, see all.

I am from the often forgotten part of faaar west Texas...beautiful mountains, beautiful sunsets, very influential Mexican culture, and yes, a desert atmosphere...it's not as big or fancy or green as Austin or San Antonio, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

Miss Texas? What the fuck is the matter with you?

You wouldn't be Miss Texas if all the other contestants were water buffalo! (he simply doesn't have the calves for high heels you see...)

Hehe. I suppose you know my kids' names too.

I've mostly lived in Lefors, but I've also lived in Midland and Amarillo, and for a brief time in San Antonio. We have family in Houston, Wheeler, and Shamrock.

I can't say I have actually been to Lefors, but is that anywhere near Dumas and Dalhart? We have driven that stretch of nothin' many times, visiting relatives in Denver.

Grey,
The title was "Do I Miss Texas".

Not "I Do Miss Texas".

Or certainly not "I Am Miss Texas".

Maybe not the calves, but have you seen my flabby man breasts? I would win. I've got bigger breasts than most of those contestants anyway.

As do you.

I prefer to use the term "moobs" myself.
