Trying to do a scholarly paper, I discovered this...
Published on November 23, 2005 By singrdave In US Domestic
I am trying to find academic articles on democracy for a short application essay to Norwich University's Master of Arts program in Diplomacy.
So I Googled a broad topic: 'Democracy'. And the first hit I got was this: http://www.fordemocracy.com

And I found such scholarly articles as this:

By their acts and declarations the Teleban Dictatorship and their terrorists allied have clearly announced their doctrine:
Kill as many civilian as you can as long as they are not Muslims
In the recent weeks starting with the world trade center attack on
September, 11, 2001 they have killed around 3000 unarmed people of all races and religions, adding Jewish civilians in the street in Israel and Christian civilians who were praying in a church in Pakistan.

What makes the Teleban terrorist doctrine original is the focus on killing Civilians
What makes the American doctrine original is the focus on not killing Civilian

--or--

By their action which prevent the votes of the Citizen of the USA to be counted as fairly as it could be, They APPOINTED George Bush Junior as the President of the USA. PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH WAS NOT ELECTED, HE WAS APPOINTED.
WE HAVE WITNESSED THE FIRST COUP OR USURPATION OF POWER IN THE MODERN USA BY A USA SUPREME COURT.

I have recreated the sad, sorry state of their screeds intact, as I think it shows their intelligence level through their grammatical and spelling errors.
The website had a feedback page. I typed in my feedback and my disappointment. What a waste of time. Wanna know the kicker? When I went to submit the complaint, the page encountered an error, and I was unable to submit my complaint. Not unexpected.

So I wrote this, directly to the editor of the page:

Dear Mr. Lafayette,

I am very saddened and disappointed that your website is such a biased mouthpiece for lunacy. I was trying to do a research paper on the legitimacy of democracy in the world. Your listing came up first on my Google search, and I clicked on it hoping to find some academic articles or pieces. Instead I found crap, sheer unadulterated crap. Too bad. What a waste of time your site was. And I will share this with the readers of my blog.

How convenient that your comment page has a glitch. So I took the liberty of sending this directly to you.

Must be a spin off of democratunderground.org

Must be a spin off of democratunderground.org

Maybe so, maybe not... but what gets me is that they are passing themselves off as a legitimate source. (It was a "sponsored link" on my Google search, which tells me that not only were they a good hit, but they paid to be a good hit and get click-throughs.)
As I said, what a waste of time.

BTW, when my essay is finished, you can bet that I will be posting.

Have you read The Federalist Papers?

I hadn't, thanks. They are now the backbone of my pro-democracy argument.

My brief essay has to argue both sides of this argument:

"Democracy is the best form of government for all the world's inhabitants."

No small task!

Can't wait to see your paper.

It's up, at Democracy is the Best Form of Government?

Have a good read, comments and criticisms are welcome!

Here is his letter, almost in its entirety. Form your own opinions:

Hello Mr {singrdave}

Here is what another person I never heard from before who found my site the same way you did;wrote:

Eric,

Wow. I just happened upon your web-site. You are incredibly concise,
articulate, honest and able to brilliantly summarize complicated events. I think you
should become a politician,. If that would be to miserable for you, maybe do an
educational radio show on democracy so that many more people can benefit from
your understanding and insight.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and good mind,

------------

Nevertheless if you had gone to articles under the header History of Democracy such as Ancient Greece or in the Biography section such as Biography of George Washington you may have had multiplied the opportunities to appreciate the Website. I am extremely comfortable with the accuracy of the History of Democracy.

Regarding recent facts and articles on Contemporary Democracy under the other headers in these last years everything I said and predicted in my articles 2, 4, 6, years ago spurred strong attack in the same way you are doing it; However I was proven right all the times and: every piece of archives released as of today today backed up my articles to an almost embarrassing point.

Your reaction is typical of President Bush supporters, they have no choice but to try to rewrite history and smear the people
who are writing sheer unadulterated facts.

Anyway you read my website and I would like to return the favor by reading your blog which is probably very interesting but I did not see the address in your email although as a threat you wrote that you will share your comments of my website in your blog.
.
Here is a quotation from:
WINSTON CHURCHILL
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

Eric Lafayette

So what I have to say is that maybe we'll get another User on JoeUser! I would live to have him bring his "incredibly concise,
articulate, honest" opinions to stand up in the blog forum.

Here is my response to his email:

Hi again Mr. Lafayette,
Thank you for your response. Quite honestly, I was not expecting one.
I am glad that you and others feel you are filling a public need. Because open debate is a wonderful thing. While I am not one to muck-rake or stir up contention, I am also of a mind that your opinions are trying to do just those things.
I cite certain screeds on the front page of your site regarding the Twin Towers, or the rant against the Gore/Bush election controversy of 2000.
You state that if I had "gone to articles like History of Democracy" and so forth that I would have found insightful articles regarding those topics. You're right, I didn't go to those. Because first impressions told me that I would only find more of the same. And not find the scholarly works which I was seeking. I was at that time doing a research paper, and needed scholarly journals or historical documents. I will be happy to peruse your opinions now that my research for that paper is complete.
My blog is located at http://singrdave.joeuser.com/
I think you will find a bunch of opinionated but rational people there. Regardless of your first impression of me, I am an honest seeker of truth. Not opinion, just fact. The biased rantings of politicians only bore me. On my site I try to express my opinions simply because they are what I feel about various topics. Not that they are any more or less important than any others. And you'll find more home/family topics or humor topics than any political subject anyway!
Thanks again for your wonderful words, and I look forward to a robust conversation in the future. It is my sincere hope that your quote from Churchill does not imply that you and I are enemies in any way. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

PS - Even though I did post information about your fordemocracy.com website to my blog, I most certainly did not post your email address. Those are sacrosanct.

BTW, when my essay is finished, you can bet that I will be posting.

I saw.  And I did not realize they were trying to be legit.  But then du.org has Liz Edwards as a member, so they are trying as well.
