Do you even KNOW me? Like, at all?

When my wife and I got our Maryland drivers licenses the other day at the MVA, we also registered to vote in our new state.

The cards came in the mail Saturday. And, though I didn't realize it at the time, the forms did not ask us which party affiliation we wanted.
So they said 'unaffiliated'. Is there a way to get them affiliated? Am I going to be able to vote in primaries?

Checked the Maryland Voter Registration website. No mention of party affiliation, or what my status actually is. Or how to change it...

Yikes! I don't want to be one of those number who are 'unaffiliated'!

Just found another copy of the form, this time online.

It says, "You must register with a party in order to take part in that party's primary elections." And then it allows you to resubmit the form to change party affiliation.

I got the scare into me this Monday morning, that's for sure. I definitely do NOT want to be "unaffiliated", so it looks like I'm going to be filling out another form.

IN Va, we are all unaffiliated.  And I prefer it that way, altho I doubt I wil vote in any primaries any time soon.

I like primaries, because it allows me to help shape the ticket I'll be voting for in November!

Incidentally, I voted for John McCain in the 2000 Republican primary. Seeing as I am no longer an Arizonan, when else am I gonna get to vote for McCain?
