Yet another head-slapping moment

Okay, so here's the deal:
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH) won $853,492 in the recent Powerball drawing. On a whim, he says, he bought a few tickets while stopping for gas in DC. Random numbers.
We should all employ such fiscal responsibility. Mathematically challenged senators who head the budget committee... yeah.
The kicker: he's already a millionaire. I guess the old adage is true: his NEXT million was the easiest!

As I replied to you on my blog, "mathmatically challenged" only really counts if you consider a couple of dollars a big deal. You assume people are somehow economically threatened by blowing a couple of bucks. Most of our income is spent on junk that brings us no chance of gain at all.

Anyway, the math seems to have worked out for him, huh?

Just for the record--he's already donated it all to charity.

Absolutely. $850k would buy me a nice new Metro and almost a full tank of gas!

True, and I don't fault him for impulse shopping at the 7-Eleven. But those people who plow their $10-$100 per week on lotto... they have some serious reality issues. And don't tell me that everyone plays responsibly!

You know, his local Republican Party HQ is a charity!

He can certainly afford to be whimsical with small amounts of cash if anyone can. Besides, it's only stupid if it doesn't work, right?
