Happy December 29th!
Published on December 29, 2005 By singrdave In Marriage
So today is my twelfth anniversary with my loving wife. We are still incredibly happy, despite four kids, many stressors, and six years in the Army. We see our lives as a great adventure. We are really looking forward to this chapter in our lives: raising our four children in Maryland, post-Army, trying to buy a house (finally - too many years of base housing), and just trying to get to know one another all over again every day.

My wife is the best thing in my life. She is my best friend in the whole world. I know her better and better every day, and nothing she does is too horrible for me to want to leave. I really can't think of anything that we haven't shared with each other; we know everything about each other, and she still loves me! Go figure.

So, happy December 29th, everyone. Gonna have a little pie party!

Dave and I will have been married 12 years next month, so I know where you're coming from.

Congratualtions on a healthy, happy marriage!

Congratulations to you and your lovely bride! We will hit ten years next summer, and are looking forward to twelve and beyond! I hope you have many more!

Congrats!

(And hey, you guys have been married long enough that...according to TX law (10 years)...if you guys divorce she gets HALF! Hehe. That was wrong, wasn't it? I apologize. Hahahahaa.)

Seriously, though, you guys sound like a warm, wonderful family, and very happy! Hope your anniversary celebration is memorable.

Congratulations...may you have many more happy years together.

Heh, not poor taste at all. In fact, I realized a few months ago I can't afford to ever get divorced. Alimony plus child support for four kids?

I could never make enough money to get divorced.

I would have to live in a van down by the river, eating government cheese.

The "pie party" was excellent, BTW. And no, that wasn't a sexual euphemism. That was leftover pumpkin pie from Christmas.

Congratulations!  Here's to another 12 great ones!

As for Texas law, that sounds very liberal.  Most states it is after you sign on the dotted line!

Texas law got two friends of mine married. They'd been cohabiting for years and had a child together. Last year they filed their taxes jointly.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. You have now joined in civil union. How romantic.

So they call it civil union now? I thought after a certain number of years it was called common-law marriage. I guess Texans never live with anyone of the opposite sex except after marriage right?

Congrats!

I loved to hear your words about your wife, it's awesome to hear that people can still be hoplessly in love with eachother after 12 years (and four kids)!

Actually, it doesn't even have to be years. Technically, if you have lived together for one day and introduce each other as husband and wife in public, you are considered to have a common-law marraige. Weird, huh?

congrats! My hubby and I will have our 12th in May. Hard to believe isn't it? Some days you feel like you've been together forever and other days it feels like you just got married yesterday.

Best wishes for many more years of wedded bliss!

Ah, young lovers. I think I remember the 12th anniversary, but that was a while back.

Still, 12 years is a decent period, and hopefully just a drop in the bucket for the longer haul.

Here's to many, many more!
