These are my random musings. Hopefully they will be witty, insightful, and frequently updated.

Today is "Relive Your Past By Listening to the First Music You Ever Bought No Matter What It Was No Excuses Day"!  So what was the first music you ever bought?

My first record, embarrassing as it is, was "I Never Knew Love Like This Before" by Stephanie Mills. It was a 45, it was 1980 and yes, it was disco. I remember listening to that song all the time seeing as I had no others.

Eventually, I moved up to the Muppet Movie soundtrack and actual '80s pop music.  In fact, from a local radio station I won a five-pack of the best-selling albums of 1985:

Prince's Purple Rain

Springsteen's Born in the USA

Van Halen's 1984 (naturally)

Footloose soundtrack

Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms

But that was five years later.  I did listen to Stephanie Mills' single this morning on YouTube (link below), so I have done my part!

Do we still need to comment to push this to the forum?

Hmmmmm....It was either Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis or Honeycomb by Jimmy Rogers.  I don't remember which I got first.  But I hear both regularly on XM so I guess I have fulfilled the requirement.

This is easy to answer,  my first record was a 33 1/3 with Frankie Avalon on one side and Fabian on the other side.

I know I wanted to listen to Fabian first,  as I had a crush on him,  the song was "Turn Me Lose".

However Frankie Avalon had the voice!  I still listen to his songs,  especially "Venus".

OH and the year was 1959.

Thanks for the memory trip!
